Extra Effort
Anyone can use extra effort as a free to gain a variety of benefits. Beginning the round after the action they immediatly gain a level of Fatigue. Extra effort can be use to gain any one of the following benefits:
- +2 on any single check.
- x2 Carrying capacity for one round.
- x2 move for one round.
- Immediate additional Will save against any ongoing effect requiring one.
- Other effect usually specified as part of a feat or power.
Conviction Point
Heroes can spend Conviction Points at any time. They return at a rate of 1 per day and by acting on vices or virtues. Using a Conviction Point grants one of the following:
- Re-rolling and taking the higher of the two rolls (min 10).
- Challenge penalties are adjusted by 5 in your favor.
- Gain a Feat for one round you qualify for but don't already have.
- Retain you dodge bonus.
- Additional Standard or Move Action.
- Reduce Fatigue by one level.
- Shake off any stunned condition and make an immediate recovery check for wounds.
- Act while disabled without worsening condition.
- Adept Only
- Gain a Power for one round you qualify for but don't already have.
- Eliminate accumulated fatigue modifiers for using powers.
- Expert Only
- Gain 4 skill ranks in any skill for a full scene.
- Warrior Only
- Erase all accumulated Bruised and Hurt damage conditions.
Challenges
Challenges are worked out between player and GM to modify normal ability checks or tasks. They usually provide either a +5 to the difficulty or -5 to the check per challenge.
- Fast Task - You complete the task one step faster than normal or save 20% on time.
- Calculated Risk - Perform a linked check taking a penalty on the first to gain a bonus on the second.
- Simultaneous Tasks - Perform two checks at once taking - 5 on the first and -10 on second and lasting the length of the longest check.
